A Story of Two Photojournalists on the White House Beat
Joel and Ian met more than three decades ago as staff photographers in Washington, DC.
One went corporate photography, capturing the pulse of American business from the boardrooms to backrooms, on factory floors and the halls of Congress. The other went all-in on technology—building innovative software products for major tech companies and leading development teams around the world.
The two joined forces to transform event photography into more than just photos. They set out to use technology to eliminate work, streamline delivery and create new value from an existing asset.

How exactly do I access my photos?
Download the free Facely app or request access to the Facely web portal from your event host.
Does Facely scour the internet for my photos?
Facely displays photos from professional photographers that have uploaded their photos to Facely and does not pull photos from the internet or other sources.
Is Facely a photo agency?
Facely is a b2b photo distribution platform. Contact us for a list of Facely certified photographers if you are looking for a highly talented photographer to partner with.
I uploaded my selfie but no photos showed up. What’s the deal?
The short answer is you haven’t appeared in any photos uploaded to Facely (yet). If you recently attended an event the photographer may not have uploaded photos yet. Check back for updates. Or, sadly, if time has passed you might not have been photographed.
Is Facely secure?
We hold user and image security and privacy as the highest of our priorities. We don’t share or sell user information, issue image distribution licenses or share photos to any third party. Photos and any user data we need to operate the platform are stored securely.
How long will my photos be available?
Photos remain in the app and via the web portal as long as your event host organization maintains a subscription. Some events have a 30- or 90-day expiration. Annual subscribers maintain images on Facely for longer.
Can I delete my information?
Yes, in the Facely app you can self-delete your account which will remove your selfie and contact information permanently.

Do attendees need to download an app?
No. In the Facely web portal, attendees verify with a quick two-factor code, upload a selfie and their photos appear. The portal doesn’t collect personal details. The free Facely app adds tools to save, share and find photos later.
How quickly do photos arrive?
Photos are matched and delivered moments after upload, and the app updates automatically as new matches arrive.
How do photographers upload photos?
Event admins drag and drop photos or give photographers FTP credentials. Upload JPGs all at once or in batches during the event. No complicated upload steps or account management.
Is Facely free for attendees?
Yes. Organizations subscribe, and attendees get their photos free.
Can we add sponsor branding?
